RESIDENTS affected by Tropical Storm Sendong who have outstanding loan balances with the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) may take a sigh of relief as the government financing institution spared them from paying their obligation within six months.

They are those that reside in Gold City, NHA Lourdesville, Villa Nena, Villa Angela, Emily Homes, Scions Executive village in Barangay Canitoan; Villa Candida, Virginia Homes and Village, Villa Mar, PN Roa, Vamenta Estate, Gokingville; and in Bahayan phase two and five in Iligan City.

The NHMFC said borrowers residing at flood-stricken areas are given moratorium of monthly payments, no penalty and no interest within six months effective January 2 to June 2012. Payments of amortization resumes in July.

The government financing firm said unpaid six months dues will be added to the remaining balance of the remaining terms.

Interested clients may file application on or before February 29, 2012, bring certification from the barangay chairman, SPAs or deed of sale for assumed units; borrower’s letter request to employer to stop January to June 2012 deduction, duly signed by the borrower, conformed by the employer and noted by the NHMFC.

The firm’s policy is “no application, no moratorium.”

“For borrowers who shall no longer be interested to return to their respective homes/units may opt to voluntarily surrender their properties thru this program,” said Leonida Ragmac-Sabio, NHMFC’s satellite head for Cagayan de Oro.
