Natural Oral Thrush Remedies – 5 Things to Avoid If You Have Oral Thrush

Oral thrush is type of yeast infection in the mouth caused by overgrowth of a fungus called Candida Albicans. though oral thrush by itself is not life threatening, it can cause great discomfort and pain to the person suffering from it. Oral thrush can be cured naturally with home based remedies (read my other articles on oral thrush remedies). by making a few changes to your daily habits, the infection can be cured faster and more effectively. Here are a few tips on what to avoid if you are suffering from oral thrush:

1. Cut down sugar intake

Yeasts feed on sugar. Excessive intake of sugar will cause a faster spread of yeast infection in the mouth.

2. Avoid fermented food

Food fermented with yeast like bread, beer and wine should be avoided as they promote further growth of yeasts in the mouth.

3. no junk food

Junk food contains a high level of undesirable additives like monosodium glutamate, sugar and preservatives that are harmful to the body. Eating junk food jeopardize the body’s immune system as all the essential nutrients required by the body are compromised. it is best to consume wholesome and nutritious food like fresh vegetables, fruits and natural unsweetened yoghurt. Garlic is also one of the recommended oral thrush remedies as it contains antibacterial properties that help slow yeasts from growing.

4. Stop smoking

Cigarettes contain nitrogen dioxide that drastically depletes the amount of vitamin C in the body. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps build up the body’s immune system. Stop smoking if you are suffering from thrush. Also, build up your immune system by taking good vitamin C supplements and vitamin C rich food like orange, yellow-fleshed kiwi, lemon and etc.

5. Avoid stress

Stress weakens the body’s immune system. a weak immune system is the primary trigger that causes the occurrence of yeast infection in the first place. If you are depressed or unhappy, seek comfort from family and friends. Organize outdoor activities. Remember, there is nothing that can’t be solved if you are willing to go out and share what’s on your mind. Meditate. Meditation helps calm and relax the mind. Remember to maintain a positive state of mind at all times.

I trust that you have benefited from the suggestions listed in this article. Remember that the tips given in this article should be complemented with proper oral thrush remedies as a complete treatment. Stick to these habits until the oral thrush recovers or for 30 days for best results and to prevent thrush from recurring.

How to Identify the Various Types of Yeast Infections

Candida albicans is a type of bacterial fungus that is present in every one of us in various areas of the body. when an imbalance occurs in the body causing the so-called bad bacteria to grow, this enables the fungus to grow and thrive resulting in a yeast infection. A yeast infection can occur in numerous areas of the body and each area can have various symptoms. these symptoms may sometimes be difficult to diagnose because they are similar to that of other illnesses or diseases.

Yeast infections can be caused by numerous things including having a weakened immune system, being diabetic, taking antibiotics, eating a poor diet full of carbohydrates and sugary foods, and poor hygiene.

The most common type of yeast infection that we hear about the most is a vaginal yeast infection in women. A vaginal yeast infection can occur for the same reasons as listed above, along with being on birth control or being pregnant. If you suspect that you have a vaginal yeast infection, you should look for the following symptoms:

  • Burning/itching sensation around the vaginal area
  • A white thick discharge that may sometimes resemble that of cottage cheese
  • Burning during urination
  • Pain during sexual intercourse

These symptoms can be treated with homemade natural remedies and/or over the counter topical creams and ointments. The symptoms may disappear with treatment, however if an underlying cause is behind the yeast infection, that will need to be addressed as well. Seventy five percent of women will experience a yeast infection some time within their life.

A man can develop the same type of yeast infection in his genital area. He may experience the same type of symptoms as a woman, along with red spots located around the head of the penis. Males are a lot less likely to develop this type of yeast infection, but it is possible.

Oral thrush is a type of yeast infection that develops inside of the mouth. People that wear dentures or smoke are more susceptible to develop oral thrush than those who don’t. This problem can be very painful and can even cause problems with eating and drinking. Symptoms of oral thrush include: white lesions or patches on the tongue or inside of the cheeks that may become painful and even bleed, a thick coating covering the top of the tongue, loss of taste, and cracking red skin in the corners of the mouth. If oral thrush is not treated properly, it may spread to the throat and esophagus causing more severe problems.

Systemic candidiasis is when a yeast infection enters into the blood stream. This type of infection is typically found in people suffering from A.I.D.S. or Cancer. when this happens, the infection can spread to other organs, including the brain and can even be fatal. Symptoms of systemic candidiasis can include a fever, decreased blood pressure, an increase in heart rate, multi-organ failure, and meningitis. This is the most serious type of yeast infection and needs to be treated immediately.

A yeast infection can make an appearance on both your fingernails and toenails. when this happens, the nails will typically turn to either a yellow or green color and possible loss of the nail all together. This type of infection may be difficult to diagnose due to the small amount of symptoms that may be present. Many over the counter fungal medications are available for use on the nails, however this type of yeast infection can sometimes be more difficult to treat and may require a stronger prescription medication to get rid of the infection.

A yeast infection can form easily on the inside of the intestines. This is typically caused by a poor diet. when a person consumes a diet that is high in sugars and carbohydrates, the yeast will feed on them, causing yeast growth. an intestinal yeast infection can exhibit a variety of symptoms, however these symptoms are synonymous with other gastrointestinal problems, making it difficult to diagnose.

Some of the symptoms of intestinal yeast growth may include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Increased gas
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Migraines
  • Depression
  • Overall discomfort

In order for an intestinal yeast infection to be properly diagnosed, a doctor may need to run some tests before treatment can begin. these tests may include a blood test or a fecal matter test. This type of infection can be difficult to diagnose even for a physician.

The Candida fungus is present all over the skin making it possible for yeast growth to occur in areas where there is an increase in moisture and heat, especially in the arm pits, groin area, and skin folds. If these areas are not kept clean and dry, a yeast infection may occur causing symptoms inclusive of a red rash, an itching sensation, and burning.

This type of infection can be prevented by keeping these areas clean and dry at all times. Obese people are especially susceptible to getting these types of yeast infections. Over the counter powders, creams and sprays are available to treat these types of candida infections. If a yeast infection occurs frequently, a prescription medication may be needed.

It is always important to take note of what symptoms you are experiencing. If you believe that you have a yeast infection, there are numerous natural remedies and over the counter remedies that you can try. If these fail to rid your body of the infection, medical help should be sought to get stronger treatment. If symptoms persist of get worse, you should see your doctor to ensure that the problem is not something more serious. Yeast infections are very common among people of all age, especially those who have a weakened immune system.

Embarrassment should not be a reason to avoid seeing a doctor if you believe that you have a yeast infection that will not go away with basic treatment, and failure to undergo the appropriate treatment may lead to aggravated health conditions.

Getting Yeast Under Control – Wellington, KS – Wellington Daily News

In recent days and months I've seen yeast rear it's ugly head in some unusual ways. the first was just before Thanksgiving 2011. our almost 18-month-old grand daughter, Kyleigh, was diagnosed with fifth disease, which is also referred to as "slap cheek" because one of the symptoms are red cheeks. Her mother was not sure the diagnosis was correct and decided to wait and see what happened. fifth disease would have gotten better over the next 7-days but what Kyleigh had got worse. it was all over – from head to toe – and my daughter was doing all she could to determine what was going on. She wondered if she was really dealing with exzema or psoriasis and decided to bring Kyleigh over so I could take a look. (23-years of mothering combined with a doctorate in natural health has its benefits.)

the moment I saw Kyleigh I was 95% certain that Kyleigh was fighting a systemic yeast infection. it was possible there was some exzema or psoriasis also but the majority of the issue was yeast. A systemic yeast infection is one that is affecting the entire body. it was all over her head, on her face, her body, and her diaper area (which was the worst). the areas that bothered her the most were also the areas where yeast thrives – the creases of the arms, legs, and the enclosed diaper area. my daughter contacted her doctor to report that Kyleigh had gotten worse not better and wanted her checked out again. this time the doctor diagnosed Kyleigh with a yeast infection that included exzema or psoriasis and prescribed 10 different medications – some oral and some topical. the yeast began to back off but didn't seem to really go away. I reminded my daughter that yeast feeds on sugar so Kyleigh needed to go off of as much sugar as possible. this is challenging for any of us but for a child right after Halloween; coming into the Holiday season, this is a very daunting thing to do. once sugar was removed from her diet, Kyleigh's yeast infection got much better. A dermatologist was then able to treat what was determined to be psoriasis.

A few weeks ago, our 7-yr-old daughter, Hannah, went out to a show with a friend. She was more interested in going to bed than sharing what she saw, which is unusual for Hannah. the next morning her eyes had red streaks similar to pink-eye and when she spoke to me she had really bad breath. Upon further examination, I discovered that her tongue was coated yellowish-white and there were blisters on the insides of her lips. I recognized this as thrush; commonly seen in babies. it was Saturday so I couldn't take her in for a confirmation and the commonly used Nystatin (which works rather well) so I checked my books and we started with lemon essential oil mixed with extra virgin olive oil. I knew that what she needed most was probiotics to help get the yeast growth under control.

You see yeast occurs in the gut. It's common to all of us and the good bacteria (probiotics) typically keep the yeast under control but if we've had an antibiotic (which is now found in portions of our food supply) then the number of good bacteria is no longer adequate enough to keep the yeast under control. if you've ever put a teaspoon of yeast into warm water in preparation of bread baking you know exactly how quickly yeast can grow when it has what it needs. so when the situation is right – yeast can take over quickly.

Thankfully I had some Super Critical probiotics in the refrigerator and AZO Yeast in the medicine cabinet. Super Critical probiotics deliver 200 billion good bacteria microbes to the gut in one dose. AZO yeast, taken 3 times daily, further aids the body in getting yeast under control. Hannah was given Super Critical probiotics once each day and AZO yeast three times daily and in three days was showing signs of getting better. the fourth day we had run out of the Super Critical probiotics and she began to quickly regress. I had my husband pick up more Super Critical probiotics from Whole Foods in Wichita on his way home from work. Within 30-minutes of getting her fourth dose of the Super Critical probiotics, Hannah was looking and feeling MUCH better. by the next morning, she was her typical self – running and playing as if nothing had happened.

since her outbreak we've had two other children with thrush that has responded the same way to the same treatment. I will be keeping Super Critical probiotics in the refrigerator and AZO yeast, which can be bought at Walmart, in the medicine cabinet. we are also making sure that the entire family consumes some form of fermented or cultured food at least once each day. Fermented and cultured foods are rich with good bacteria that is required by our body to function properly. To learn more about the importance of these tiny microbes, read The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates.

Oral Thrush – Causes, Features and Treatment

Oral thrush is a kind of yeast infection that may appear in an individual’s mouth that is caused by uncontrollable growth of an organism or bacteria known as Candida albicans. this is the kind of a organism that generally rests under your skin, in your gut, or in your mouth and does not bother anyone at all. On the other hand, if this bacterium starts multiplying, it grows uncontrollably leading to inflammation and causing extreme pain. When it occurs, it is known as candidiasis, a yeast infection, or moniliasis.

Causes of Oral Thrush; you may be thinking that you should take measures and then you will not be able to catch this oral thrush; however, this is not how it is. The yeast is already there and there are numerous factors that can initiate its growth and it go uncontrollable. one of the leading and primary reasons or oral thrush is gorge of antibiotics. There are different bacteria with which the yeast is compatible. These bacteria also live under the skin among various other places but they are harmless and are extremely helpful in fighting off the yeast infection. while an individual is in-taking antibiotics to deal with such diseases that are causing bacteria, the medication also kills the harmless bacteria. Yeast is the one which is not affected by these antibiotics, goes out of control as there are no bacteria to fight and it starts to multiply and grow greatly. Cancer medications and steroids also enable yeast to flourish. The medication taken by chronic lung patients or asthmatics also lead to this infection.

Treating the Oral Thrush; Candidiasis is not generally a critical condition with the exception is that it enters into your blood and then multiplies into your organs particularly for people who have weakened immune systems. for this reason, a suspension of an antifungal prescription can be injected into the mouth and further swallowed or sometimes the physicians try a different way out. for such cases that reoccur along with crucial ones, antifungal medication is advised which can prolong for a longer period of time. On the other hand, if oral thrush is caused because of inhaled corticosteroids usage, suffer can rinse the mouth after making use of the inhaler as this will be helpful in preventing this infection.

Don’t Diagnose and Treat Your Yeast Infection Yourself. Here’s why. . .

Don’t Diagnose and Treat Your Yeast Infection yourself. Here’s why. . .

There are too many variables with yeast infections and the treatment could take many different paths. Your doctor may know of a much better treatment that you’re not familiar with that might be more suitable due to one of the variable factors present. For many reasons, you really must see a doctor or visit your clinic to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment method. Be that as it may, it’s very easy to find and buy numerous OTC medications for a yeast infection. a recent study of women who self-diagnosed their supposed yeast infection found that only 33% were correct. That’s a big difference between those who were correct and those who were incorrect.

Be that as it may, as we have mentioned before, a lot of women analyze their infection as a vaginal yeast infection and treat it accordingly. if you self-diagnose and make a mistake, you will only realize this by paying close attention to how your body responds to the treatment. it may be wise to visit the Emergency Room if you have a vaginal discharge as well as other symptoms that could indicate a more serious problem. Symptoms as diverse as flatulence after you eat and a craving for sugar-laden foods could indicate a much more serious condition, even if they are accompanied by your common yeast infection symptoms. These are all symptoms that really have nothing to do with a vaginal yeast infection, but could indicate something much more sinister.

One of the types of yeast infections that happens often in children is called oral thrush. This will appear in the mouth. Nystatin, an antifungal compound, is very efficient at treating Oral Thrush. a natural remedy that also works well is Neem Tree Leaves made into a strong tea. a treatment with Nystatin is very easy to do, especially with children. all is required is to rinse the mouth out with the liquid, gargle so it gets to the throat, and then swallow what’s left. just keep in mind that if you discover a case of oral thrush in you or your child, it will require treatment and evaluation from a doctor. This isn’t something you can treat yourself. Your medical provider may have a new, more effective treatment he or she will want you to use. Another thing you don’t want to do if you or your child has oral thrush and that is to rub the white patches in an effort to remove them because you can make the areas under the patches bleed. Not to mention the fact that you will be causing yourself undo pain for no reason.

Some people consider a natural treatment for a vaginal yeast infection using boric acid capsules as being more effective than prescription medications. if your prescription or OTC medication hasn’t taken care of your vaginal yeast infection, give boric acid capsules a try. a lot of women report that this is very effective. there is one major precaution to using boric acid: Don’t use it if you suspect a vaginal yeast infection and you are pregnant. we really can’t repeat this admonition too many time: if you are pregnant and you think you are developing a yeast infection, vaginal or otherwise, go to your health care provider immediately. if you have an infection that you suspect is a yeast infection, and it’s not clearing up after treated initially, please don’t use the alternative remedy we mentioned above, but visit your doctor immediately. Your condition may not be a yeast infection after all. It’s easy to confuse the symptoms of other infections with those of a yeast infection. This is one of the problems when you diagnose yourself.

As a rule, the majority of simple yeast infections are easy to treat with good results. the worst kind of Candidiasis is a condition know as chronic Candidiasis, or Systemic Candidiasis, in which the yeast cells spread through the body.

If you have this type of yeast infection throughout your body, you must seek treatment immediately as the mortality rate is extremely high, especially if you delay in getting treatment. but that is not to be confused with the situation in which the GI, or gastrointestinal, tract has a yeast infection. That is not the same as a full-blown systemic infection. either way, what needs to be avoided is introducing the yeast into the blood stream.

Mouth Yeast Infection – Oral Thrush Can Take A Smile Away

The mouth is a vital body structure that serves as entry point for food that nourishes human body. The parts of the mouth include the lips, tongue, teeth, gums and the oral mucosa or membrane. through the tongue, humans appreciate various tastes of different foods, from the all-time favorite “happy food” chocolate to sour lemons that make our lips “puckered.”

However, there’s one more thing that can make a person pucker his lips with all the frowning face; but this time it is not due to the food taste, instead it is a frown drawn from pain and disgust caused by a mouth yeast infection called oral thrush. Oral thrush is just one of the diseases caused by the Candida fungus, popularly known as yeast. This is common among children (infants and toddlers) as well as the elderly. The common denominator among them is weak immune system. In cases of children, it is often brought about by their immature or underdeveloped immune system, while elderly have deteriorating body resistance due to aging. Apart from them, adult individuals with underlying diseases that assaults the immune system like Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV) and Cancer are susceptible of contracting the fungal disease as well.

Oral Thrush Causes

Candida albicans is the primary causative agent for most yeast infections. It naturally harbors in controlled population at the gastrointestinal tract, skin, genital area and even in the mouth together with the good bacteria (probiotics). Both priobiotics and yeasts protect the body from invasion of other pathogenic microorganisms. However, there are certain conditions that everything gets out of control like when the yeast excessively multiplies while the good bacteria are reduced in number. This microflora imbalance results into yeast infection as Candida dominates. If this incident occurs in the mouth, then it is a mouth yeast infection (oral thrush).

Some of the risk factors associated with mouth fungal infection are smoking, dry mouth (due to dehydration or decreased fluid intake), and ill-fitted dentures. Yeast infection can also be drug- induced through administration of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory (cortecosteroids), birth control pills and other chemotherapy drugs. Hormonal imbalance particularly in women are also pointed out to might have triggered overgrowth of yeast and some of the conditions identified are pregnancy, menstruation and menopausal period. Diabetes can also provide a body system favorable for growth of yeast because this fungus takes its nutrition from simple sugar (glucose), which is elevated in diabetic individuals.

Oral Thrush Signs and Symptoms

Oral thrush signs and symptoms typically have an abrupt onset in severe form and may heal within a short span of time. However, it may become chronic particularly when there is improper management of the disease. its symptoms may also have remission (controlled state) but may recur and become pronounced again (severe) when the infected person’s immune system weakens and the abovementioned risk factors triggers yeast overgrowth.

The common presenting symptom of mouth yeast infection (oral thrush) is creamy white elevated (cottage cheese-like) lesions in the tongue, buccal mucosa (inner cheek), gums, hard and soft palate (roof of the mouth) and tonsils (back of the throat). In fact, this mouth fungal infection may even worsen and infect the esophagus (the tube-like structure that connects mouth to the stomach). aside from the disgusting mouth lesions, pain is generally experienced by infected individuals, particularly when the lesions erode or get scraped upon tooth brushing and it may even bleed. Difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia), fever and feeling of throat tightness or that something is stuck in the chest may also be experienced by individuals suffering from mouth infection because of the thick growth of yeast in the throat and esophagus. with all the signs and symptoms oral thrush may manifest, an individual with mouth yeast infection would really miss to smile most of the time. How could someone smile anyway when one is agonizing from pain and from the lesions that appear so unhygienic? hence, save your smile and prevent mouth yeast infection.

When you’re suffering from oral Candida then you must treat it just the same as you would any other type of fungal infection on your body. This is because they are caused by the same infection causing organism. Your body is now allowing the Candida to mutate into fungus and that is why you’re suffering from your infections, and your mouth is suffering the most because it has a high concentration of fungus feeding in it. the fungus buildup is what is causing the white patches in your mouth, and if you see red patches then that is where the fungus has perforated your skin. So at the moment your mouth has become a good home for the fungus, and to cure your infection you need to change that. you’re going to need constant treatment if you don’t achieve this, and the fungus in your mouth will continue to infect your intestines.

Yeast loves warm and moist parts of your body

Fungus always breeds in warm, mist places in and on the human body. which makes a woman’s genitalia the most common place for an infection if this kind, on the human body. Your mouth is also another warm moist place, and fungal infections are getting more common in this part of the human body. This type of oral infection has a negative impact on your internal health. Your digestion will get affected if you’re swallowing infection causing fungus all day. and when you start taking antacids all day to treat that problem then you’ll create an intestinal fungal infection. and that is the last thing your body needs at the moment. All the fungus in your body will do exactly what it is doing in your mouth. It will feed on the cells of your body as well as what you’re feeding on.

Heartburn treatments make your condition worse

Your stomach produces acid for many reasons and it gets neutralized by indigestion remedies. Your intestines are usually protected by this acid as it kills organisms that ar swallowed with food. When you’re neutralizing the acid in your stomach the fungus will survive the journey into your intestines. and an intestinal yeast infection will soon follow. because you’re swallowing the fungus as well as the yeast mutating into it, and you’ll have fungus feeding on the inside of your body as well as your mouth. while you’re just taking a medicine for your oral thrush then your intestinal infection is going untreated. So you need to start taking something that is going to treat your infection from the root cause. You must stop treating the symptoms of your infection if you want the fungus to stop feeding on your body.

You have to get the yeast under control

The Candida in your body has been kept under control by good bacteria, but the numbers of this protection have fallen, and now you’re unprotected. When you replenish the good bacteria in your body then you’ll be will on your way to curing your infection. You won’t just be targeting one part of your body, it will be treated as one infection so every part of your body gets cured. Disclaimer: This article is for educational purposes only. Always see your doctor for a diagnosis and treatment for any type of infection.

Treating Yeast Infections – Candidiasis Condition Fact Sheet

There are many different factors you must think about that will determine the best method of treatment. You may not be aware of a better treatment method that has been developed for one of the various contingencies you have overlooked. The person most suited to determine your best course of action is your doctor. however, you can visit your pharmacy and find yeast infection medications in just about any formulation that don’t require a prescription. One interesting study revealed that two out of three women totally dropped the ball when they used self-diagnosis for vaginal yeast infection. That’s a big difference between those who were correct and those who were incorrect.

As we have often discussed, there are very many women who use self-diagnosis and self-prescribed treatment for vaginal yeast infections. if you self-diagnose and make a mistake, you will only realize this by paying close attention to how your body responds to the treatment. You may have vaginal discharge, which could be a symptom of a yeast infection, but you should take a trip to the hospital if you have other symptoms. Symptoms as diverse as flatulence after you eat and a craving for sugar-laden foods could indicate a much more serious condition, even if they are accompanied by your common yeast infection symptoms. such symptoms could indicate very serious medical conditions totally unrelated to yeast infections.

Candidiasis oral is a yeast infection that frequently occurs in babies, children, and adults. The common name for this type of infection, which appears in the mouth, is oral thrush. as a rule, oral thrush requires a liquid prescription drug, such as Nystatin, which is an antifungal. Nystatin is easy to take by the mouthful. Hold it in your mouth as long as you can and then gargle with it. after that, you simply swallow the liquid. as a rule, you won’t be able to treat oral thrush effectively without seeing your doctor and being properly evaluated. There are other ways to treat oral thrush, and your doctor just might prefer to do something different. One major warning if you have oral thrush – do not ever try to remove the white patches by scraping. You will cause bleeding and more damage to the tissues under the patches. also, the condition will become much more painful if you attempt to scrape it off.

Some people consider a natural treatment for a vaginal yeast infection using boric acid capsules as being more effective than prescription medications. It’s especially useful if you have a chronic yeast infection that didn’t respond to other antifungal medicines. This natural remedy is not recommended for someone who is pregnant and has a vaginal yeast infection. as we repeatedly stress, if you are pregnant and develop a vaginal yeast infection, you MUST visit your doctor or gynecologist. We mentioned boric acid as a popular natural home-remedy for a vaginal yeast infection; however, we still maintain that it’s much better to see your doctor for a correct evaluation, especially if your infection isn’t responding to treatment. if you self-diagnosed your condition, then you could have a different kind of infection.

More often than not, you will be able to successfully treat and eliminate your yeast infection quite easily. One type of yeast infection that is not so easy to treat is a chronic, or systemic, yeast infection that infiltrates your whole body.

Unfortunately, the mortality rate is quite high in these cases and around 75%. however, systemic Candidiasis is not the same as a yeast overgrowth that occurs in your body also. A yeast overgrowth in your intestinal tract is not the same thing as a chronic, systemic yeast infection. Either way, what needs to be avoided is introducing the yeast into the blood stream.
