Candida Overgrowth

Looking for information about Candida Overgrowth?

Many women are familiar with vaginal yeast infections, be it through personal knowledge, or stories heard from others. Therefore they are also familiar with the typical symptoms that come with a yeast infection.

These symptoms include an abnormal vaginal discharge that is whitish or yellowish in color, thick in consistency, and has a distinct odor that can vary from woman to woman.

Also characteristic is the swelling of the vulva that can irritate it to the point of causing an intense burning or itching sensation that intensifies when urinating. while the traditional symptoms are all too familiar, what exactly is it that causes the infection?

Vaginal yeast infections are caused by Candida overgrowth. Candida yeast is a micro-organism that is found in the body. Sometimes, the yeast begins to multiply to great numbers due to various lifestyle and environmental reasons. When the yeast over multiplies it tends to concentrate itself in the vaginal area. Too much yeast concentrated in this area leads to infection and irritation.

What exactly are the lifestyle and environmental factors that lead to Candida overgrowth? One major factor is food. certain foods that are consumed can actually aid in the production of yeast. Furthermore certain medications, such as specific antibiotics, can decrease the amount of beneficial bacteria found in the body that helps to restrain yeast production.

Other factors include specific types of clothing and personal hygiene habits that can actually create an environment in which the yeast is able to more rapidly produce.

Since yeast infections are specifically caused by Candida overgrowth, in order to prevent recurrent yeast infections it is important to learn how to control yeast production within the body. it also becomes apparent why many over-the-counter yeast infection treatments are not always that effective.

These treatments tend to come in the form of a topical ointment that must be applied directly to the vaginal irritation. But the creams focus merely on treating the skin irritation, and not reducing the abundance of yeast that is causing the problem to begin with. while this may provide temporary relief, it does nothing to treat long term, recurrent yeast infections.

Treating Candida overgrowth and preventing recurrent infection and irritation can be achieved most sufficiently by learning how to reduce the amount of yeast that is produced by the body. this includes learning and making an effort to change the various lifestyle and environmental factors previously mentioned.

Candida Overgrowth Is A Yeast Infection

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida and a yeast infection results when there is an overgrowth of Candida. Vaginal yeast infections also cause vaginitis, or an inflamed vagina. the symptoms of vaginitis include itching, soreness, a burning sensation and pain during sexual intercourse or while urinating. A lot of these symptoms can often appear to be a different problem, such as bacterial vaginosis.

So, if you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you should make sure to get checked by your health care professional to see what type of infection you have. Fortunately there is more than one yeast infection cure that can help you to get rid of the overgrowth of Candida. You might want to try a yeast infection natural treatment.

If you try a natural yeast infection treatment rather than relying on an anti-fungal medication, natural yogurt is a good remedy if applied topically. Garlic and apple cider vinegar can be effective, but you should never be applied directly to the skin as it can cause burning and pain. Add some garlic or apple cider vinegar to a warm bath. You can also take garlic capsules orally since they are a natural antibiotic. You might want to try taking oregano oil as well, as it has been found to kill Candida yeast.

You’ll find many over the counter yeast infection medications at most drug stores which come in the form of topical creams, vaginal suppositories and pills which you take orally. most of the time, an over the counter yeast infection remedy will work well. If your symptoms don’t go away after you’ve used an over the counter product, you might want to talk to your doctor about prescribing a stronger anti-fungal yeast infection cure.

If you’re able, topical creams and vaginal suppositories should be taken to avoid negative side effects, or even better natural treatments as oral medications can cause nausea, headaches and abdominal pain.

Once you’ve chosen to use a natural or anti-fungal yeast infection cure, you will also want to work to prevent any further infections. many things can cause vaginal yeast infections and some of them cannot be avoided. For instance, stress can trigger yeast infections and these circumstances are sometimes impossible to get away from. You might also find that it’s helpful to avoid tight clothing or undergarments which are made of lace or polyester. Instead choose loose fitting pants and white cotton underwear that fits properly. You should also avoid using perfumed soaps or body washes and choose pure unscented products instead.

What to Do with a Recurring Candida Overgrowth

What do you do when you have a recurring Candida Overgrowth? It’s guaranteed to drive you crazy, and then some! Not only, is it awful to have a condition that just won’t go away and stay away; Candida Overgrowth has the potential to cause far more serious health problems.

Is there a solution? yes. Is it simple and easy? no. How long does it take to get rid of it? Depends. It depends on a lot of things; not the least of which is how much time and effort you put into getting rid of it. Medication, diet, home remedies and natural healing, exercise, rest and stress reduction are all necessary. If you are Diabetic, you must also care for that illness. Relief from the recurring nightmare of Candida Overgrowth will not happen overnight, not even any night soon. But, it can happen; it will happen, if you work hard at it.

Candida Overgrowth is caused by a yeast or fungus; that due to use of antibiotics, has begun to rage through your body causing infections.

The first thing you need is a positive diagnosis from a medical practitioner, who will give you a prescription for antifungal medication. take it all; take it as prescribed. If you still have symptoms ask the doctor if you can safely take another course of the medication; and take that as prescribed.

Now it’s time to add some weapons from your own arsenal.

Of course, as with any other health issue, diet and exercise are key. Your diet should be high fiber, with lots of raw vegetables and fruit, low in sugar and carbohydrates. you don’t want to give the yeast anything to eat that it likes, such as sugar. Drink lots and lots of water; you have to keep the nasties flushed out of your system.

Next, and doctors probably wouldn’t agree; but, get some over the counter antifungal medications to supplement, or use in an emergency outbreak, when you can’t get to the doctor’s office.

Everyone has a few things in the pantry or refrigerator that will help you get rid of Candida Albicans overgrowth. Number 1 is vinegar; real Apple Cider Vinegar raw, unfiltered and unpasteurized. take at least 2 tablespoons 3 times a day. This stuff slays Candida yeast. It is full of natural enzymes that are one of the worst enemies of yeast; it eats them up. Try adding it to recipes or sugar free drinks or make a salad dressing with it. It’s also works on vaginal Candida or any external Candida by direct application. Dilute it with water and dab it on, put a cup in a warm bath and soak, or dilute and douche with it. It will not destroy the body’s natural pH or the good bacteria that fight other infections. Garlic is also full of these enzymes, eat lots; it makes everything taste good anyway. Eat lots of yogurt with live acidophilus cultures (must be live); these bacteria really eat yeast.

Yeast and Candida – Diagnosing a Candida Infection

One of the most frustrating aspects of Candida is that it is difficult to diagnose. as with any health condition, the sooner you are diagnosed the better. The most common methods of diagnosis of this condition is to first evaluate the individual’s past and present health, evaluate their symptoms, obtain bacteria culture, and perform diagnostic tests. Depending on your condition, the doctor may use one or more of the methods of evaluation.

Have you noticed that when you visit a new health professional that the first order of business is that you complete a health evaluation? This is true for just about any type of doctor because your present and prior health condition may shed some light on the diagnosis of Candida yeast. for example, if you are diabetic or are currently taking steroids, this could indicate that you are at risk for Candida overgrowth and lead the doctor to specific treatment options. your doctor may also ask you questions about your parents’ health to see if there is a genetic connection.

Evaluation of Symptoms

Symptoms are what typically drive an individual to visit their doctor. The symptoms associated with an overgrowth of Candida don’t usually send people to emergency rooms, but are frustrating enough to raise concern. The following are the most common symptoms associated with an infection of yeast:

White patches on the skin or throat
Red, swollen, or itchy skin
Excessive cravings for sweets
Fatigue
Skin infection
Anxiety
Headaches
Indigestion
Vaginal infection
Oral thrush

As you can see from the list, the symptoms associated with Candida yeast may resemble any number of other health conditions. Evaluation of symptoms is rarely if ever the only evaluation performed to diagnose Candida yeast. a doctor will often combine the existence of symptoms with other evaluations.

Evaluation of Cultures

Your doctor may consider taking a culture from the location of the infection. Common areas for culture swabs are the mouth, skin (if oozing blisters are present), and vagina. The doctor, usually while the patient waits, looks at the culture under the microscope and determines if there is indeed the presence of yeast. The doctor may also request a stool test to detect the presence of yeast in the stool. The stool sample is typically sent out to a lab and the results faxed to the doctor within a few days. in addition to detecting the existence of a Candida overgrowth, evaluating stool cultures can indicate the extent of the infection.

Evaluation through Testing

A blood test to check for Candida antibodies is common, but is not very useful because a large percentage of the population has been exposed to Candida. anyone who has been in contact with Candida, whether or not it has been eliminated or not, will test positive for Candida antibodies. Testing for live organism will have the same result.

The Candida Immune Complex Assay test is a more beneficial blood test because it detects high levels of immune complexes, which are combinations of Candidan yeast antigens and antibodies. The test basically informs the doctor if the individual does indeed have an overgrowth of yeast and at what level.

Electrodermal Testing (EDT) is new method of testing for Candida infection. EDT takes a backwards approach by testing an individual’s reaction to homeopathic treatments. Using a galvanic skin resistance (GSR) instrument, the doctor feeds the treatments through the electric current and watches the results on a computer display. there is debate on whether the test produces accurate results, but more and more medical professionals are using this form of testing of Candida infection.

Marital sex is healthy for you – Experts

Sex, according to experts is very good for couples in a marital relationship. Apart from enhancing social bonding and closeness between the couple, good sex has a beneficial effect on overall health .

It can strengthen your immune system, improve your circulation, decrease tension and irritability, decrease migraines, diminish arthritis, strengthen your stamina, reduce insomnia, and just make you feel good all over. many studies show that people who reported a fulfilling sex life rated themselves as less hostile, anxious and more content.

Sexual wellness depends upon several factors:

1. Positive sexual self-concept; seeing oneself as valuable sexually.

2. Knowledge about sexuality.

3. Positive relationships with your intimate partner.

4. The ability to communicate with your partner about likes and dislikes.

5. Coping with barriers and limitations , that is, social, environmental, physical, and emotional limitations.

There are facts about sex that affect a lot of women. one of such facts is achieving orgasm.

About 25% of all women finds it difficult to achieve orgasm.

This entails that a lot of exercise is necessary before one engages in the act of sex. also, you can focus on foreplay and experiment with sexual positions that stimulate the clitoris and G spot. some women never achieve orgasm but still have satisfying sex lives.

The G spot is a small spongy pad of tissue ,a couple of inches up on the anterior wall of the vagina. Stimulation of the G spot produces very intense feelings which are pleasurable for most women, but can be too intense for others. it can also help you achieve the illusive multiple orgasm. Experiment with sexual positions and find the ones that hit your G spot. The missionary position will rarely hit the mark.

Learn to keep sex very interesting. when you’ve been with your partner for a while, it’s easy for sex to become routine but remember, variety is the spice of life. Try to retain some spontaneity. Use your imagination and occasionally surprise your partner with something new. For example, share a few fantasies with them and try a few out.

If you want to avoid pregnancy, a hormonal method might be best. The pill is 99 percent effective at preventing pregnancy but you must take it daily. If you’re forgetful, the hormonal injection only needs to be given every 12 weeks. to prevent infection and pregnancy, condoms are the best, if used properly. But moralists prefer abstinence intead of condoms or pills.

Both men and women should make sexual health exams apart of their general health routine. some exams can be done at home, while others require a visit to your gynecologist or urologist. As always, if you notice anything that concerns you, don’t wait for your annual appointment. Contact your doctor’s office about any suspicious findings. Remember, that many diseases can be treated better, if they are detected earlier.

Learn how to do a breast self exam, to increase your chances for an early detection and read about what physical exams are used for diagnosis at breast cancer information.

A lot of women suffer from painful sexual intercourse. This is called dyspareunia. The pain can be felt as burning, sharp, searing or cramping. it can be external, within the vagina, or deep in the pelvic region or abdomen.

Another sexual problem in women is chlamydia which is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can cause infertility. The symptoms of sexually transmitted infections can vary from a change in vaginal discharge, irritation, to pain felt while having sex or during a menstrual period.

Women also suffer yeast infection which is an overgrowth of Candida, a yeast that occurs naturally in our bodies in the gut, skin, and vagina. Under normal circumstances, it is kept under control by other ‘friendly’ bacteria in the body.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is an umbrella term for any inflammation of the organs in the pelvis and it is normally caused by an infection in any of the reproductive organs, including the womb, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, womb lining, and/or vagina.

Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) is the most common form of female sexual dissatisfaction (FSD) and occurs when there is a persistent lack of desire or absence of sexual fantasies.

In a society saturated with sexual imagery, it seems strange that some people have no desire for sex. But it is a startlingly common problem. Millions of people suffer from low sex drive.

What is Women’s low Sex Drive?

Women’s low sex drive means there is a persistent lack of desire or absence of sexual fantasies. in other words, you’re rarely in the mood and you neither initiate sex nor seek stimulation.

If one partner doesn’t have interest in sex despite the other partner’s best efforts, it’s easy to become perplexed. And without guidance, the couple may characterize the problem in ways that can destroy their relationship.

The causes of women’s low sex drive can be divided in psychological and physical. in fact, the causes can be unique for every single woman and may be one or a combination of both. With the right health practitioner, the causes can be easily identified and successfully treated.

Relationship conflicts or life style factors often influence the sex drive. Communication problems, anger, a lack of trust, a lack of connection, as well as a lack of intimacy can all adversely affect a woman’s sexual life. A woman’s sexual response and interest can be affected by addiction, daily stressors, like financial concerns, demanding jobs or busy parenting schedules can be causes for women’s low sex drive.

Drugs, such as antihypertensives, antidepressants and birth control pills, interfere with sex drive, arousal and orgasm by quashing the libido by flooding the bloodstream with serotonin, a chemical that signals satiety or satisfaction.

Without a healthy level of testosterone in the blood, some researchers believe, women are unable to properly respond to sexual stimuli.

Menopause and some surgical procedures, such as removal of the ovaries, can also reduce sexual function by decreasing availability of the hormones estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

women’s low sex drive.

The most important thing to get the right treatment for low sex drive is to find out whether your problem is psychological or physical. Different causes necessitate different treatments.

If your low sex drive is caused by psychological factors, the number one treatment option is probably a counsel and therapy (marital or sex therapy) with your partner.

Before you go to a therapist, however, you can try to solve the problems on your own by talking about it with your partner. sometimes spending romantic time with your partner, having sexual thoughts or seeing stimulating images can lead to arousal and the return of a healthy sex drive.

Untreated Candida Overgrowth is Bad for Your Health

Candida Overgrowth is an infection, and simply for that reason alone, it is bad for your health. Candida infection is a fungus that originates in the human digestive tract. in its original form it is a beneficial fungus that aids in digestion; and in that state is perfectly harmless. use of antibiotics causes a change to occur in the fungus; it begins to cause infections and becomes Candida Overgrowth. Candida Overgrowth is capable of causing many severe medical conditions, contributing to some illnesses and being a symptom of or trigger for others.

Candida Overgrowth can be exceedingly dangerous for the simple reason that sometimes it exhibits no symptoms in and of itself, but could be the underlying cause or contributor of another condition, such as Diabetes. Candida is often associated with this disease. if it is discovered that you have high blood sugar, you will be treated for that condition, and the underlying Candida will most certainly not be discovered or treated. this is especially dangerous in Diabetes or high blood sugar, because the condition itself (sugar) is a feeding ground for Candida Overgrowth infections. It can become a vicious cycle of treatment that will never cure your infection.

Babies are prone to oral Candida or Thrush, which is a painful condition that makes it very difficult to eat or even swallow liquids. this can cause severe dehydration, which is very dangerous to babies. this particular form of Candida is also prevalent in older adults, who may already be in a state of health that makes it difficult for them to care for themselves, without adding the burden of Thrush.

Cancer patients taking chemotherapy, HIV positive patients and AIDS sufferers, among others have compromised immune systems. Candida is very attracted to people with weak immune systems. when you are already chronically or terminally ill, Candida Overgrowth has the opportunity to invade the blood stream or other vital organs, including the brain, which can quickly bring about fatal results.

Most people have some form of Candida Overgrowth in their bodies, at some point. At the very least, everyone has the fungus that becomes the yeast in Candida infections. It may not be severe enough to cause symptoms, but it is lurking there waiting for its chance to attack whatever body system becomes weak due to a mild or serious illness. Definitive diagnosis of Candida is vital, in order to get rid of candida albicans, before the disease rages out of control.

Yeast Infections Are A Candida Overgrowth

24 Nov

Yeast infections are the result of too much of a fungus called Candida. Vaginal yeast infections cause vaginitis, which is an inflammation of the vagina. the symptoms of vaginitis include itching, soreness, a burning sensation and pain during sexual intercourse or while urinating. a lot of these symptoms can often appear to be a different problem, such as bacterial vaginosis.

Therefore if you experience any of these symptoms it is important to get checked out by your health care professional to determine your infection. Fortunately there is more than one yeast infection cure that can help you to get rid of the overgrowth of Candida. your best natural solution is a natural yeast infection treatment.

If you try a natural yeast infection treatment rather than relying on an antifungal medication, natural yogurt is a good remedy if applied topically. Garlic and apple cider vinegar can be effective, but you should never be applied directly to the skin as it can cause burning and pain. Add some garlic or apple cider vinegar to a warm bath. You can also take garlic capsules orally since they are a natural antibiotic. You might want to try taking oragano oil as well, as it has been found to kill Candida yeast.

You’ll find many over the counter yeast infection medications at most drug stores which come in the form of topical creams, vaginal suppositories and pills which you take orally. Over the counter yeast infection remedies are often sufficient to address the problem. However, if your symptoms do not go away after using an over the counter product then you may wish to ask your doctor to prescribe a prescription strength antifungal yeast infection cure. a Candidol review can help you to see that preventing a Candida overgrowth is a better option than working to find a cure.

If you can, stick to the topical creams and vaginal suppositories or better yet the natural treatments, because the oral pills can cause unpleasant side effects such as abdominal pain, nausea and headaches.

Once you have used a natural or antifungal yeast infection cure to get rid of the Candida you will obviously want to avoid further infections. Many things can cause vaginal yeast infections and some of them cannot be avoided. For example, stress can cause yeast infections and stressful situations can sometimes be impossible to circumvent. You might also find that it’s helpful to avoid tight clothing or undergarments which are made of lace or polyester. instead choose loose fitting pants and white cotton underwear that fits properly. You should also avoid using perfumed soaps or body washes and choose pure unscented products instead.

How Do You Know If You Have Candida

Candida overgrowth has been found to be a frequent complication or even a causative factor in many of today’s illnesses. Treatment is available but diagnosis has to come first.

Yeast is normally found in the mouth, throat, intestines and genitourinary tract. its presence in the body is not normally problematic and is balanced by a well-functioning immune system and friendly bacteria. If the immune system ceases to function properly, or the level of friendly bacteria in the body becomes too low – as can happen when too many antibiotics are introduced to the body, when steroids are used, when everyday stress becomes overwhelming or with poor diet choices – then Candida overgrowth may occur.

Someone with an overgrowth of yeast can experience any number of unpleasant symptoms such as a genital yeast infection, thrush in the mouth, fatigue, skin rash, depression and anxiety. The symptoms of Candida overgrowth are frequently treated with anti-fungal remedies. Even with these remedies, however, if your diet is not changed to create an environment within the body to prohibit the overgrowth of Candida, relief is sure to be temporary, and problem symptoms will return.

As Candida is a normal component of the body’s natural flora, using conventional laboratory testing to determine the need for treatment isn’t always helpful, and generally can only help to diagnose the late stages of a yeast infection. Current methodologies for testing include checking for the presence of yeast cells in the urine, saliva and stool, or the gut fermentation test which involves testing the blood for alcohol, dosing the patient with sugar and testing their blood again – if alcohol shows up in their blood it is assumed it has occurred from fermentation from the yeast in their gut.

It is also difficult to diagnose Candida overgrowth for a number of reasons. It shares symptoms with other conditions such as gluten intolerance and hypothyroid – and any combination of these can be present simultaneously, adding to the difficulty of diagnosis.

Another factor is that available tests are able to recognize only a few of the 150 known strains of Candida and the cells in the specimen may die while waiting for analysis resulting in a false “normal” result. Along with the test, then, other factors have to be considered before a diagnosis can be made. The doctor must consider if the patient has a history of factors that are known to result in Candida infections and establish that there are symptoms present associated with it. Additionally, the knowledgeable physician will experiment with dietary and antifungal therapy to see if the there are reactions consistent with Candida overgrowth.

Both herbal remedies and prescribed medications can be helpful in treating a yeast infection along with dietary and lifestyle changes. Check with your herbalist as to dose, mode of use and formulations. For antifungal remedies not available over the counter check with your doctor about side effects, costs and availability.

Researchers are working on discovering better testing protocols to establish earlier the need for treatment.

Keeping your immune system, “friendly” bacteria, and Candida in proper balance is possible with a combination of proactive changes; by altering your current diet, and with the responsible use of medicinal or herbal treatments you can maintain a healthy body.

Natural Health from A to Z – Mason County News – Mason, Texas

Enzymes are catalysts that run hundreds of thousands of biochemical reactions in our bodies. Also known as “sparks of life”, they are essential for digesting food, stimulating the brain, providing cellular energy and repairing all tissue. There are two major types of enzymes, digestive enzymes that help us utilize the nutrition in our food, and metabolic enzymes that are responsible for the chemical reactions within our cells such as energy production and detoxification.Research has found that our enzyme producing potential is limited and decreases as we age. our body chooses to produce digestive enzymes first, at the expense of metabolic enzymes. What is notable about this is that, our food supply is typically so processed that it contains little, if any, enzymes. This means that all of our enzyme producing potential is used to digest our food with very few being left over to run essential processes in the body. It is no wonder that Americans suffer from indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and other digestive disorders. They simply can’t produce enough enzymes to digest what they eat and their digestive tract suffers the consequences. To help your whole body, not just your digestion, take a digestive enzyme. There are many different varieties available including those for high protein diets, high carbohydrate diets and high fat diets. Also, eat something raw at every meal such as a salad or vegetable sticks. Raw foods contain all of the enzymes necessary to digest them. if you are eating raw nuts, you may want to soak them first as the outer layer contains enzyme inhibitors which are nature’s way of helping them have a longer shelf life – soaking breaks down the enzyme inhibitors, making the nutrients in the nuts more available. Enzymes supplements are also used for different conditions in the body. for allergies, enzymes help break down the unrecognized proteins that instigate an allergic response. There are enzymes for metabolic processes. There are enzymes for inflammation that work very well. one of the natural supplements available for rheumatoid arthritis is bromelain, which is pineapple enzyme. another common use of enzymes is cellulase for systemic yeast or candida overgrowth. Some simple guidelines that will help you in determining if enzymes might be good for you are: digestive trouble including indigestion and constipation; sore neck and shoulders; sensitivity in the muscles that move your lower jaw; inflammation and allergies. I thought it was appropriate to run an article on enzymes the week of Thanksgiving. Most people think it is the tryptophan in turkey that makes them sleepy after the meal. I think the body wants to shut down so it can digest and “put away” the food from the feast – whether it includes turkey or not. I carry digestive enzymes to the Thanksgiving meal – I take 2 before and 2 after and I might take 2 later on depending on how much I ate.Thanksgiving blessings to all. Remember that your stomach will feel better sooner if you help it do its job by chewing well and taking digestive enzymes.

CANDIDA A DREADED TYPE OF YEAST INFECTION CAUSING THINGS LIKE CONSTANT FATIGUE, HEADACHES, CISTITIS, DIGESTIVE RELATED PROBLEMS AND OTHER RECURRING DIFFICULTIES

WOMEN’S HEALTH

Today we at the VAHL CHIROPRACTIC WELLNESS CENTER continue to recognize the gravity of Candida as a national health problem bring you our readers and patients more information on this dreaded yeast infection.

Do you experience symptoms like chronic fatigue, digestive problems, or vaginal infections with no real explanation? You’re not alone. Estimates now suggest that up to 25% of Americans may suffer from yeast related problems – both men and women.

Candida albicans overgrowth – also known as yeast infection or simply ‘Candida’ – is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide and causes symptoms such as chronic fatigue, skin rashes, recurring vaginal yeast infections, or digestive problems. despite the fact that many conventional doctors still deny its existence, public awareness of Candida overgrowth has continued to grow.

Candida yeast infection usually occurs in individuals with an overgrowth of an intestinal organism called Candida albicans due to an unhealthy diet high in sugar, prolonged stress, or overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics. once the Candida albicans overwhelms the healthy bacteria in your gut, it can negatively affect your health in numerous ways.

Candida overgrowth is a common health problem of today as up to 75% of all women will experience a yeast infection in their lifetime. However, yeast infection can be far more complex and present a wide variety of seemingly unrelated symptoms:

  • constant fatigue
  • recurring vaginal infections
  • rashes – skin, mouth, sexual organs
  • flu-like symptoms
  • headaches
  • constipation or diarrhea, bloating
  • foggy brain
  • food allergies

There are many symptoms of Candida yeast infection, but they all start because of out-of-control growth of Candida cells in the intestines. There it may produce a number of toxic by-products that may infiltrate the bloodstream. the result is a fight, and your body is the prize.

There are two different approaches for dealing with Candida overgrowth:

  • Conventional medicine generally focuses on reducing the symptoms of the disease of Candida overgrowth. Drugs like Nystatin, Diflucan, Sporanox, or Lamisil can be prescribed to reduce the amount of Candida albicans yeast in the body. while these drugs can help over the short term, many people will experience recurring yeast infections in the long run.
  • Holistic approach is usually the only long-term solution for Candida overgrowth. the holistic approach tries to address the root cause of Candida infection to permanently prevent it from recurring and to improve your overall health. This is something – by the way – that conventional medicine with synthetic drugs misses entirely.

Chronic yeast infection is a modern day disease that has reached epidemic proportions. However, thousands of patients with Candida overgrowth have already been helped or cured with antifungal, probiotic and diet therapy. Being able to thouroughly educate yourself about the symptoms and causes of this condition is your first step to better health. That’s why we recommend reading:

Candida Albicans: the Non-drug Approach to the Treatment of Candida Infection

Available in UK and US editions

UK edition Thorsons/HarperCollins (2003)Paperback 180 pagesISBN 0-00-715295-7

This best-selling book (over one million sold) shows how to detect whether yeast is your problem and provides a comprehensive non-drug approach to the treatment of Candida, providing help and advice for sufferers of conditions such as IBS, cystitis, thrush, PMT, fatigue, muscular pain, allergies and many more in which yeast overgrowth may be playing an active part.

Candida Albicans, a yeast that lives inside all of us, normally presents no health problems, but in recent years the widespread use of antibiotics, contraceptive pills and steroids, as well as a sugar-rich diet, there has been a proliferation of this parasite yeast, commonly leading to a host of health problems.

Candida Albicans has been shown to sometimes be responsible for such conditions as depression, anxiety, irritability, IBS, constipation, heartburn, allergies, muscular pain, diarrhoea, vaginitis, acne, cystitis, bloatedness, tiredness, migraine, hopelessness, thrush, PMT, and other menstrual problems.

This fully updated 5th edition has been updated with the recent medical research, and the book provides a clear, accessible and practical guide to determining whether Candida is your problem, and then outlining ways to fight and prevent it.

The book contains information on the full range of complementary and orthodox treatments available, as well as an anti-Candida diet and advice on which supplements, prebiotics, probiotics and herbal extracts can control Candida naturally.
